MAC5SPORTS PRESENTS:
Best of the Best Skills Challenge
The Best of the Best Skills Challenge is an elite-level competition that pits youth athletes and coaches against each other in a battle to determine who’s truly the "Best of the Best." This event is open to players in the 6U to 13U little league and high school divisions.
The challenge consists of a 1-day skills camp followed by a 4-week tournament, each designed to improve performance on both sides of the ball and put players and coaches to the ultimate test.
1-Day Camp Breakdown
In the 1-day camp, athletes will participate in position-specific drills to enhance their skills and technique in preparation for the tournament:
-
Wide Receivers: Focused on route running, catching techniques, footwork, and quick cuts to beat defenders.
-
Running Backs: Drills on acceleration, agility, ball security, and reading blocks.
-
Defensive Backs & Linebackers: Focus on tackling form, coverage skills, reading offenses, and improving reaction time.
Each position group will run through rigorous drills, getting them ready to excel during the tournament's competitions.
4-Week Tournament Structure
The tournament will follow a competitive format that includes:
-
Man vs. Man: 1v1 battles designed to test individual matchups.
-
Team vs. Team: 2v2 and 4v4 matchups with full offensive and defensive participation.
-
Coach vs. Coach: Coaches are scored based on their strategy, training, and leadership as they guide their teams.
Scoring System
Each round of the tournament will be scored using a point-based system for both offense and defense:
-
1v1 (Offense vs. Defense): The first player to reach 14 points wins. Points are scored based on the ability to successfully beat the defender (offense) or prevent the completion (defense).
-
2v2 and 4v4 (Team Matchups):
-
Long-Distance Plays: Offense scores 2 points for a successful play starting from the 40-yard line. Defense scores 1 point for a stop.
-
Short-Distance Plays: Offense scores 1 point for completing a play starting from the 20-yard line, while the defense earns 2 points for stopping them.
-
Games will be played in a "make-it, take-it" format to keep competition tight, and all plays will be timed to ensure smooth progression through the event.
